A delegation from China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), headed by Wang Shoujun, chairman of the company, visited France and Italy at the invitation of New AREVA Group, a French nuclear firm, and its Italian counterpart Ansaldo Energia, from Nov 6 to 10.

The delegation exchanged ideas with the two companies on cooperation in nuclear power, the nuclear cycle and the treatment of decommissioned nuclear facilities –– boosting China’s relationships with Italy and France in nuclear power development.

During the visit, Wang met with the CEO of AREVA Nuclear Power Company and discussed cooperation. He also attended the forth high-level strategic dialogue on commerce and industry with Varin, chairman of New AREVA Group, and visited the company’s fuel production plant, with the aim of promoting cooperation on the nuclear cycle between the two sides.

Also, Wang made a special visit to see Zhai Jun, Chinese ambassador to France, and discussed the current state of nuclear cooperation between CNNC and France.

The nuclear cycle project plays a key role in Sino-French cooperation in the nuclear power sector, which has drawn the attention of both governments, said Zhai. He also urged CNNC to increase communication with its French partner, improve its efficiency and complete the joint project as soon as possible.
