CNNC develops shipping containers for spent nuclear fuel
The prototype unit of “Longzhou-CNSC” shipping containers of spent nuclear fuel, a national-level major scientific and technological project specialized and researched by China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), passed the acceptance test and is capable of batch production on Dec 20.
It signified that CNNC has succeeded in developing large-scale shipping containers of spent nuclear fuel, which fills up a technology blank of China. It marks a milestone for China’s spent nuclear fuel.
CNNC has registered the project under the trademark “Longzhou-CNSC” that can carry 21 sets of spent nuclear fuel assemblies.
