CNNC and Uganda move on nuclear technology cooperation

Wang Shoujun, chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), met with Irene Muloni, Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, in Beijing on May 11. 

The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the peaceful use of atomic energy and will give priority to the application of nuclear technology in medicine, agriculture and industry. 

During the meeting, Wang introduced the development history of CNNC, the whole-industry-chain of the nuclear industry, the construction of HPR1000, and the expansion into overseas markets. 

He highlighted CNNC’s capabilities in the application of nuclear technologies, new energy research and development, and engineering construction. He expressed willingness to share technology and experience with Uganda to help the country improve infrastructure construction and people’s living standards.
