In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping initiated the creation of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road which later became the Belt and Road initiative. Nine years later, following the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has achieved many significant accomplishments. It has served as a major platform for China to participate in global opening-up and cooperation, improve global economic governance, promote common development and prosperity, and build a community with a shared future for humanity.

As a leading force in China's nuclear industry, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has actively participated in the Belt and Road Initiative, deepened cooperation with countries and regions along the route, and constantly expanded high-standard opening-up and cooperation. It has achieved a series of significant accomplishments. The Unit 2 & 3 of Karachi Nuclear Power Project in Pakistan, which use the Generation III nuclear power technology with complete independent intellectual property rights, were put into commercial operation, providing the international community with new solution to build Generation III nuclear power plants. The Unit 3 & 4 of Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant set an example for global nuclear power cooperation. With the high-quality core installation of the ITER fusion reactor, CNNC contributed to the world's largest international scientific research facility in the nuclear field.

In the future, through vigorous and determined endeavor, CNNC will continue to build itself into a world-class nuclear industry group with global competitiveness. It will promote international nuclear cooperation and the high-quality and sustainable development of the BRI, and make new and greater contributions to the global nuclear community with a shared future for mankind.
