China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) hosted a science activity for experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on April 22, as the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation approaches.

The activity was sponsored by IAEA and organized by CNNC with the aim of sharing China’s 30 years of experience in nuclear power development with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

A total of 27 IAEA experts from 17 countries including Pakistan, Turkey, Armenia, Iran, and Ukraine participated in the forum. Most of them are employed at the national energy ministry, nuclear radiation regulators, and nuclear institutes and facilities in their home countries.

During the event, representatives from the China Atomic Energy Authority, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the China National Energy Administration, and the National Nuclear Security Administration briefed participants on China’s national nuclear policies and the current status of nuclear development in China.
