CNNC reactor supplied to Karachi plant makes big progress
On March 29 Karachi 2 -- the first overseas Hualong One nuclear reactor independently developed by China National Nuclear Corporation -- was officially handed over to Pakistan and went into use, CNNC officials said.
They said the new equipment will provide guaranteed progress for the training of the first batch of technicians of the Hualong One overseas project for the loading and operation of the nuclear power plant.
The Hualong One overseas demonstration project -- involving Unit 2 and Unit 3 of the Karachi nuclear power plant, was supplied by CNNC.
Officials said that at present, the civil construction phase of Unit 2 is close to completion, the installation phase has entered its peak period and the commissioning work has been carried out.
They said that the full range simulator for a nuclear power plant is commonly known as the "digital virtual headquarters". It simulates the normal operations and severe accidents of nuclear power plant.
Karachi nuclear power Unit 2 full range simulator adopts the simulation development platform with completely independent intellectual property rights. It solves the simulation integration difficulties of multiple instrument and control systems, overcomes the defects of earlier versions instrument and control data and completes integration commissioning and deliveries.
During this period, Pakistan and CNNC carried out a detailed inspection on the equipment functions, the plant’s hardware, software and training documents.
Officials said the results showed that the first overseas full range simulator of Hualong One provided the requisite training conditions for a nuclear power plant -- and the supply of software, hardware and documents met the requirements of the contract supply.
