The installation of the out casing on the steam turbine of Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant Unit 5, Hualong One's first nuclear power plant in Fuqing, Fujian province, was successfully completed on March 26, preparing it for the turning gear device test and thermal performance test.

The turbine was independently designed and produced by China with full intellectual property. It weighs 1,988.8 metric tons with a 40.655 meters long shaft, becoming the largest nuclear turbine set under construction in the world.

The installation of the out casing took 17 days and was essential to the installation of the turbine. The construction team of Hualong One used previous experiences as reference to optimize the installation procedure and labor arrangement, ensuring its high-quality and efficient installation.

The hydraulic pressure of the secondary loop was also successfully tested to verify its integrity, ensuring that the turbine is ready for the thermal performance test.
