China’s nuclear power giant takes part in industrial trade fair

China and Russia have been talking cooperation in the nuclear industry, not only in the two countries but elsewhere as well, according to industrial officials taking part in the International Industrial Trade Fair 2015 in the city of Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Also taking part was Sun Qin, chairman of the China National Nuclear Corp (CNNC), one of China’s largest nuclear operators, who said that they are exploring business opportunities with a Russian counterpart, Rosatom, and have plans to develop other nuclear markets besides China and Russia. Sun described the company’s Hualong-1 nuclear technology based on innovative developments in 3rd-generation nuclear technology and a leader in safety and performance. Hualong-1 offers a non-passive safety design concept.

Sun went on to say, “We hope to bring new opportunities for the Belt and Road Initiative and take equipment manufacturing to a higher level,” referring to the program that President Xi Jinping announced in 2013, for reviving the two ancient trade routes to further open up markets in a mutually beneficial way.

The event is Russia's largest industrial fair, and hasfive areas -- mechanical engineering, industrial automation, energy efficiency, optics and lasers, and metropolitan technology. The Chinese exhibit takes up a 7,500-square–meter space and covered the high-speed rail, aerospace, aviation, ship, electric power, automobile, electronics, machinery, nuclear energy, and satellite navigation industries.
