The China National Nuclear Co (CNNC) held an exercise at its Fuqing’s No 3 unit to test emergency responses, on Feb 18, using a real scenario for the first time to make it as close to reality as possible.

The examiners chose the scenario at random to see how the unit would respond spontaneously with a process guiding. This drill helps to check the response capacity of the unit, before using the unit for real. It lasts five and a half hours and involves about 600 people.
