Sun Qin, chairman of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), met with the Saudi Arabian Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Khalid al-Falih in Beijing on Aug 29.

Sun said that China and Saudi Arabia have a good relationship and cooperate well in every sector. As a business in the nuclear power sector with a complete industrial chain, CNNC is willing to cooperate with Saudi Arabia, he said.

Saudi Arabia thinks highly of the "Belt and Road" Initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to Khalid al-Falih.

Saudi Arabia is willing to let its Economic Vision 2030 and China’s "Belt and Road" Initiative complement each other, he added.

The Saudi Arabian minister of energy, industry and mineral resources will support the CNNC to conduct business in Saudi Arabia, which includes nuclear research and development, uranium exploration and mining, nuclear medicine, nuclear power station construction, and nuclear-powered seawater desalination.

After their talks, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of human resources in the field of nuclear technologies.
