CNNC-built nuclear unit passes operation test in Pakistan
Unit 3 of the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant (C-3), the third exported nuclear power plant from the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) along the Belt and Road trade route, passed a reliable demonstrative operation test lasting 100 hours and accomplished the provisional acceptance rating at 3:30 pm on Dec 6 (Beijing Time).
The Chashma Unit 3 reached critical mass on Oct 3 and was officially connected to the power grid on Oct 15. It smoothly passed platform tests for power capacity at 10 percent, 30 percent, 50 percent, 75 percent, and 100 percent respectively, before being awarded the unit provisional acceptance at 3:30 pm on Dec 6.
As present, the CNNC has already constructed four 300,000-kilowatt-class nuclear power units and two million-kilowatt-class nuclear power units, which have been exported to Pakistan. Also, the CNNC has been pouring effort into collaboration in fields of uranium resources, talent training, and others.
Unit 1 and Unit 2 of the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant have already been put into thorough operation and have been maintaining a stable and secure running status.
Unit 4 of the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant has been in the all-round debugging phase, and is expected to be connected to the grid for power generation by the first half of 2017. By then, it will provide clean, highly-efficient, and secure energy for Pakistan, a place facing with electricity shortage.
