CNNC seeks global partnership at World Nuclear Exhibition
With the theme of “opening a new era of nuclear energy development”, the 2018 World Nuclear Exhibition was held in Paris, France from June 26 to 28. China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has demonstrated the power of China’s nuclear industry for the future with innovations in HPR1000, high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, and advanced nuclear fuel production capacity.
Yukiya Amano, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency; Bruno Le Maire, France’s Minister of Economy and Finance; Wang Shoujun, chairman of CNNC; and Yang Changli, vice-president of CNNC attended the opening ceremony of the expo and viewed the CNNC booths.
"China and even Asia are the center of the future development of world nuclear energy," addressed Yukiya Amano at the opening ceremony. China and many other countries are now striving to develop third-generation and fourth-generation multi-functional small reactors, which will be the tendency of future nuclear industry, he added.
He also emphasized the importance of public communication for the development of nuclear energy.
Bruno Le Maire conveyed the great confidence of France’s nuclear energy development and pointed out that as nuclear power represents future energy, France will invest more in promoting nuclear power and new energy by 2020.
After the opening ceremony, Wang gave an interview to the French media and answered questions from journalists on China's nuclear energy development and cooperation with the French energy companies.
Wang pointed out that under the “Belt and Road Initiative” CNNC will take advantage of the whole industry chain with a more open attitude to work with France and global partners to boost world nuclear energy development.
