In face of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, the China National Nuclear Corporation requested all companies involved in the construction of  Hualong One -- or HPR 1000 -- reactors to move quickly into epidemic prevention and control mode, according to CNNC officials.

They said that to date, all those participating in the construction of the HPR 1000 projects have seen no worker infected and more than 4,500 staff have returned to work.

Officials said that during the Spring Festival, some workers remained on duty to continue the construction work and debugging, in order to lay a solid foundation to achieve the annual goals of major projects.

The HPR 1000 is a domestically developed third-generation nuclear reactor and CNNC says it is the only third-generation pressurized water reactor nuclear power project being built on schedule in the world.
