Following five days of transportation, the first batch of 72 nuclear fuel elements for Phase III of the Tianwan nuclear power plant -- in Lianyungang in East China’s Jiangsu province -- were successfully sent to the facility on Feb 10, according to officials.

They said more nuclear fuel elements were delivered to other nuclear power plants in the country recently.

The elements were made by the CNNC Jianzhong Nuclear Fuel Co Ltd, a subsidiary company of CNNC -- China National Nuclear Corporation.

CNNC Jianzhong Nuclear Fuel is Asia's largest pressurized water reactor nuclear power fuel element manufacturing facility, annually producing thousands of nuclear fuel elements for more than 30 nuclear power plants worldwide.

Company officials said that on Feb 5, it resumed production gradually following comprehensive preparations for novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control.

The company introduced a flexible work schedule for its employees, disinfected factories regularly and distributed face masks and ethanol for workers, providing a safe work environment for staff members.

Officials said that to date, no infection has been found in the company.
