From June 26 to 29, organized by China Nuclear Power Engineering of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), a cross-regional workshop of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), themed on the graded approach for site evaluation of modular small reactors, was held in Beijing. It was the first large-scale international training event of the int’l agency in 2023. Experts from the nuclear field actively participated, with more than 70 specialists from 21 countries in attendance.

Under the guidance of IAEA experts, participants engaged in discussions on the requirements and graded approach for the siting of small reactors, as well as exchanging insights on the current status and plans for small reactor development in various countries. During the event, the workshop members also visited China Nuclear Power Engineering and the China Institute of Atomic Energy.
