CNNC makes significant progress in two projects in Xinjiang

On July 10th, the commencement ceremony of the CNNC's Burqin Pumped Storage Power Station project and the grid connection ceremony of the first phase of the 100,000-kilowatt integrated wind power project in the Burqin River Basin in Xinjiang were held. This marks the official initiation of construction for CNNC's first pumped storage power station project in Xinjiang. It also signifies the start of the construction of a tens-of-millions-kilowatts-level green energy base in the Irtysh River Basin by the Xinhua Hydropower Company, which demonstrates CNNC's deep involvement in the industrial support and development of Xinjiang.

The capacity of the Burqin Pumped Storage Power Station is 1.4 million kilowatts, with a designed annual power generation of 1.75 billion kilowatt-hours. It will support the power grid in the northern Xinjiang and the utilization of new energy. It is estimated that the station will save 726,900 tons of coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 2,186,500 tons per year. The project shows significant economic, social, and ecological benefits.

The wind power project which integrates water, wind, and light in the Burqin River Basin has a designed capacity of 100,000 kilowatts, with an annual electricity generation of 325.3 million kilowatt-hours. Its average full-load utilization is 3,253 hours. The project can save 99,200 tons of coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 582,200 tons, and smoke and dust by 10.41 tons annually. It will deliver significant social, environmental, and economic benefits.
