The Rössing Foundation, which is funded by CNNC's Rössing Uranium Mine, has cooperated with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Namibian Ministry of Education to conduct training for principals and school managers in rural primary and secondary schools to improve educational management skills and to open three teaching sites for the disciplines of mathematics, science and chemistry across the country to improve the quality of teaching in remote areas; cooperated with local universities and research institutions to build a 15-meter diameter "African astronomical telescope" to support local youths to learn about astronomy; and since 2019, it has been contributing NAD2 million each year to support local university students to complete their studies in forms of scholarships and paid internships.
Since 2019, the Rössing Foundation's teaching sites have provided classes for more than 20,000 local primary and secondary school students, teacher training opportunities for about 600 rural teachers, and free access to the library services to more than 40,000 local teachers and students.
