On September 4, the first large steel pipe pile of CNNC's Xuwen East No 2 Offshore Wind Power Project in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, was successfully driven into the seabed with high precision, marking the start of the project's main offshore construction.

The pile at Turbine Position No 1 is the project's longest single pile, with a verticality deviation tolerance of no more than 0.3 percent. The successful installation of the first pile lays a solid foundation for large-scale piling and subsequent main construction. 

With a planned capacity of 300 MW, the project will feature 21 offshore wind turbines, each rated at 14.3 MW, and a 220 kV offshore substation. Once operational, it is expected to generate 1.034 billion kWh of green electricity annually, save 299,900 metric tons of standard coal and reduce CO₂ emissions by 797,700 metric tons.

The project will contribute to the development of a 10-GW-class offshore wind power base in western Guangdong, while supporting Zhanjiang's new energy development and local economic transformation.
