As of October 5 this year, Units 1 and 2, which are the first phase of the Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) in East China's Zhejiang province, had generated over 150 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, equivalent to saving about 42 million tons of standard coal and cutting CO2 emissions by 110 million metric tons.

Unit 1 of the Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant was successfully connected to the grid on June 30, 2018, and put into commercial operation on September 21 of the same year. It is the world's first commissioned AP1000 nuclear power unit and China's first operational unit built with Generation III nuclear power technology.
Currently, the Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant is making steady progress under the overall development layout of "2 units in operation, 2 units under construction, and 2 units pending commencement".
When all six units are completed and put into service, the annual power generation of the Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant will reach approximately 60 billion kilowatt-hours, equivalent to reducing 45 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions yearly.
The nuclear project will make further contributions to upgrading Zhejiang's industrial and energy structure and to supporting the realization of the country's carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.
