Steam generators dispatched to Akkuyu unit 1

Atommash, part of the Volgodonsk branch of Russia's AEM Technology, is ready to ship four steam generators to unit 1 of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant under construction in Turkey.
SMR-160 completes first phase of Canadian review

Holtec International's SMR-160 reactor has completed the first phase of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC)'s vendor design review (VDR) process. The company plans to begin the second phase of the voluntary pre-licensing review in the near future.
UAE's first reactor starts supplying power

Unit 1 of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the Al Dhafrah region of Abu Dhabi has been connected to the grid and has begun supplying electricity to the UAE. The South Korean-supplied APR1400 is expected to enter full commercial operation later this year.
Uprate project under way at Slovak units

Fortum looks to extend operation of Loviisa plant

Finnish utility Fortum has begun the environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure for the operation of the two Loviisa nuclear units beyond their current licences. The two-stage process will take about 18 months to complete.
