China’s nuclear power pilot ready for construction work
The China National Nuclear Corp’s Unit 5 of the Fuqing nuclear power plant, which is using the HPR 1000 reactor in a pilot project, has its steel-lined base plates in place and work on the structure began, on Sept 8, with the base installation completed 17 days ahead of schedule. The base plate is part of the plant’s leak-proof containment safety plan.
