Fuqing ’s new nuclear power unit ready for operation
The China National Nuclear Corp’s Fuqing power plant’s Unit 2 has been approved for commercial operation as of Oct 16, after a 168-hour trial run, bringing the company’s total number of nuclear power plant units to 13, with all of the plants’ installed capacity expected to reach 10 million kW.
The trial run was essential for the licensing of the new power plant unit by the government and this second unit gives the Fuqing power plant a total installed capacity of 2.178 million kW and the generating capacity is expected to reach 52 million kWH every day, and 15 billion kWH every year for grid electric power.
