The Chinese session of the fifth Civil Nuclear Showcase held in London from Jan 19 to 21 gathered together the leading Chinese nuclear power enterprises, creating a communication and exchange platform for Chinese and British nuclear companies.

“China is playing a more important role in the international nuclear power market,” said Paul Drabwell, deputy director of the Green Economy Team of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI).

China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) announced at the event that a joint R&D center will be established by the company and the UK’s National Nanotechnology Laboratory, which will be an important channel to display Chinese nuclear industry R&D strength, promote China’s independent nuclear power generation technology, and assimilate advanced European nuclear industry technology and talent. The event was also an opportunity for CNNC to show its counterparts its achievements of last year.

“We expect a more cooperative relationship between Chinese and British companies through the Civil Nuclear Showcase, with both sides making joint efforts on the international stage to develop the nuclear market,” said Drabwell.

Jointly organized by UKTI and the Nuclear Industry Association, the three-day event attracted the participation of more than 300 enterprise representatives, experts, scholars and government officials from China, the UK, Japan, France, Brazil, the United States, and other countries.

China’s National Energy Administration and China General Nuclear Power Corporation also shared their nuclear power projects and successes at the event.
