Zheng Yanguo, deputy to the National People’s Congress and president of China National Nuclear Co (CNNC)’s Hunan Taohua River Nuclear Power Limited Company told reporters that the Hunan delegation will submit ideas on initiating nuclear power construction in the country’s interior at the beginning of the nation’s 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) to this year’s National People’s Congress.

The project will be of great significance for our nation’s energy optimization and transformation, he noted, adding, “We think that we have met all the preconditions for doing it and we hope to start soon”.

Zheng elaborated that everything is proceeding smoothly since the government agreed that preparation work for the project may begin, and facility design, site construction and some other steps have been completed, meaning that conditions are ripe for starting the major construction work.
