Safety injection tanks for HPR1000 reactor successfully hoisted

All three safety injection tanks for the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) Fuqing Nuclear Power No 5 unit, which is an HPR1000 first reactor demonstration project, were hoisted into position on April 22, providing favorable conditions for construction and installation of the reactor nuclear island.
As safety injection tank positioning is a key factor for a nuclear island’s internal construction, Fuqing Nuclear Power Co held discussions with relative personnel on possible eventualities and reviewed proposed solutions for each to ensure a successful hoisting.
To date, construction of the HPR1000 first reactor demonstration project has been progressing smoothly.
