CNNC president urges construction of HPR1000 pilot nuclear power project

Qian Zhimin, president of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), visited the construction site of the HPR1000 pilot nuclear power project in Fuqing, Southeast China's Fujian province from Aug 18 to 19.

Qian stated at a meeting with the Harbin Electric Corporation (HEC) that both the CNNC and the HEC should have a forward-looking perspective, and try to find and address problems as soon as possible.

He urged careful analysis of the overall project, urged a careful focus on all the different aspects of the project, and made it clear that staff should respond quickly to any potential problems.

The president expressed his gratitude to all the organizations that have made contributions to the project.

Qian also emphasized that great importance should always be attached to quality. He expressed his hopes that all the various organizations involved in the project will cooperate well with each other, and make full use of the project coordination platform.

Meanwhile, Qian called for building the HPR1000 pilot nuclear power project into an example of China’s "Belt and Road" Initiative.
