Work on HPR1000 demonstration project’s nuclear island begins

Installation work began on the nuclear island of unit five of the Fuqing nuclear power plant in Fujian province on Sept 20.
The start of the installation is a new milestone for the pilot nuclear power project, which is using China’s third-generation HPR1000 reactor for the first time.
Work on the unit five nuclear island has started five days ahead of schedule, as the unit five project continues to make excellent progress.
The early start indicates that the project is being managed effectively, and is a testament to the teamwork of the entire management team.
