Sun Qin attends 23rd World Energy Congress
Sun Qin, chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), along with the company’s delegation, attended and addressed the 23rd World Energy Congress held in Istanbul (Turkey) from Oct 9 to 11.
During the congress, Sun gave a speech themed “Tomorrow’s Nuclear and Today’s Reality”, and discussed issues concerning the challenges and risks of operating nuclear power, the future development drive and technological trends of nuclear power.
Sponsored by the World Energy Council, the congress had a number of influential people attend, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin. In all, more than 50 national ministers and 500 chief directors of energy companies from around the world came together to discuss approaches to cope with future global energy needs and many other issues.
The nuclear energy was a central focus at the meeting, according to the congress organizers.
