On Oct 15, Sun Qin, chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), met with Ali Akbar Salehi, Iranian Vice President and head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), to interchange views on issues concerning the heavy-water reactor at Arak and future collaborations for nuclear energy.

Sun Qin conveyed that under the guidance of both countries’ governments, the CNNC firmly supports and actively promotes the rebuilding project of Arak’s heavy-water reactor, to create a better environment for future comprehensive bi-cooperation on nuclear energy.

Ali Akbar Salehi expressed that faced with substantial opportunities for nuclear energy from both sides, the Iran government hopes to ally with the CNNC to jointly propel the reconstruction of Arak’s heavy-water reactor, and small-capacity and large-capacity nuclear power plants, along with many other related partnerships.
