On Nov 25, the world’s first steam generator of the HPR1000 demonstrative project—Unit 5 of Fuqing nuclear power plant successfully accomplished the ex-factory hydraulic pressure test, marking success in research and development of the steam generator.

Independently researched and designed by the Nuclear Power Institute of China (NPIC) attached to China National Nuclear Corporation, the steam generator will enter the section of factory acceptance test, and has laid a solid foundation for the smooth propulsion of the construction on the HPR1000’s first reactor project.

The steam generator, as the crucial equipment in the reactor coolant system (RCS), is the hub to connect the primary and secondary loop system. It features with complicated structure, multiple interfaces, and high-difficulties in design technique.

The HPR1000’s steam generator utilizes mature technologies in design and manufacturing process, which guarantees the performance of facilities. It also showcases high service reliability, fine engineering feasibility, and advanced technology, ranking to the technology level among the same type steam generators of the third generation pressurized water reactor in nuclear power plants across the world.
