China-US cooperation promotes development of new nuclear technology
Wang Shoujun, chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), and Bill Gates, Microsoft founder and chairman of Terra Power, witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement on R&D and the localization of new-generation nuclear fuel elements between China Nuclear Fuel Corporation (CNFC) and Global Innovation Nuclear Energy Technology Co on Nov 3.
The cooperation is a key step for carrying out the US-China agreement on the peaceful use of nuclear power, collaborating on R&D of traveling-wave reactors, and promoting the development of clean energy. It is also a new move CNNC has made to follow the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, promote innovative development, and accelerate supply-side structural reform.
CNFC, the only nuclear fuel company in China, manufactures, transports and sells nuclear fuel –– providing high-quality products and services to drive the safe and efficient development of nuclear power.
Global Innovation Nuclear Energy Technology Co is an emerging business in the nuclear industry, established by Terra Power and CNNC. It specializes in the R&D and promotion of traveling-wave reactors, a new-generation nuclear power technology.
