Gansu Yumen Heiyazi 50MW Grid Parity Wind Power Demonstration Project, constructed by CNNC Rich Energy Corp Ltd, became China’s first grid parity wind power project connected to the grid on July 31.

Construction work on the wind farm started on March 25 and was completed one month ahead of schedule. It has 25 single wind turbines, each with a capacity of 25 MW, which can operate for more than 3,000 hours.

The project achieved grid parity with the cost below 5.7 yuan ($0.8) per watt, bringing the price of renewable energy down to normal levels.

The project serves as an example of CNNC’s strengths in the renewable energy field and demonstrates how clean energy can be produced at competitive prices.
