The cold air was successfully sent to the electric building of the K3 unit of Karachi nuclear power project in Pakistan, according to local media reports on Feb 16.

The project is the second overseas unit adopting China’s Hualong One nuclear reactor technology, also known as HPR 1000.

Officials said it is China's homegrown third-generation nuclear reactor technology and is now one of the most accepted third-generation nuclear power types in the nuclear power market.

A total of five nuclear power units with HPR 1000 technology are under construction at home and abroad by the China National Nuclear Corporation, or CNNC.

The safety and quality of projects are in a well-controlled state, according to company officials.

The successful cold air supply to the electric building provided a strong guarantee for subsequent nodes and set a good example for cold air supply to the nuclear island, experts said.
