CNNC President meets with IAEA Director General
Gu Jun, president of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), held a meeting with Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), on May 26.
Gu extended a warm welcome to Grossi on his visit to China and reviewed the history of cooperation between the CNNC and the IAEA. He said that the CNNC attaches great importance to its cooperation with the IAEA and has always been active in working with the international agency to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Gu added that the CNNC looks forward to deepening people-to-people exchanges between the two sides, taking part in the IAEA's training programs for cancer treatment in African countries, and making further contributions to the implementation of the IAEA's Rays of Hope initiative.
Grossi spoke highly of the development of the CNNC's nuclear power and nuclear technology application, adding that the IAEA is willing to strengthen cooperation with China and share the country's experience in economic, technological and business development with other developing countries, delivering hope to people in low- and middle-income countries.
Those in attendance of the meeting included Liu Hua, deputy director general of the IAEA, and Deng Ge, secretary general of the China Atomic Energy Authority.
