CNNC Chairman attends the 68th IAEA General Conference
Yu Jianfeng, chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), recently attended the 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and participated in a series of events, conveying to its international counterparts about China's firm commitment to building a global community with a shared future in nuclear energy development.
During the conference, Yu signed a practical cooperation agreement with the IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi under such proposals as Atoms4NetZero, NUTEC Plastics, and Rays of Hope. They will jointly promote the greater role of nuclear energy and technology in areas such as net zero emissions, health, and environmental management through personnel training and joint research.
The CNNC, in collaboration with the Électricité de France (EDF), also donated the "A Prospective Study "Bluebook" on Nuclear Energy to Support Low Carbon" to the IAEA. It comprehensively reviews the achievements of nuclear power development in China and France, systematically summarizes the significance and practical experiences of nuclear energy in addressing global climate change and promoting energy transition, and outlines the prospects for nuclear energy development, representing the consensus of China and France on the future of nuclear energy.
During the conference, the CNNC held 11 bilateral meetings. Yu held in-depth discussions with the minister of Energy of Kazakhstan and the head of Uzbekistan's Nuclear Development Agency (Uzatom), among others.
At a side event of the conference, China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd, a CNNC subsidiary, won the innovation award on artificial intelligence of the International Network on Innovation to Support Operating Nuclear Power Plants (ISOP) with its innovative application of IOTs technology in nuclear power engineering smart construction site, highlighting the international recognition of CNNC's innovative practices in the field of nuclear power engineering.
